Note on Numbering/Strands: ML-Musical Literacy, MR-Musical Response, CR-Contextual Relevancy
2.ML.1- Apply the elements of music and musical techniques in order to sing and play music with accuracy and expression.
*1.1: Apply problem solving strategies to improve musical technique when singing or playing instruments.
*1.2: Use accurate pitch to create and sing three pitch patterns.
*1.3: Use body, instruments or voice to generate and/or extend rhthmic patterns.
*1.4: Apply changes in music to the elements of dynamics, tempo, melody, and form.
*1.5: Create new patterns by extending rhythmic patterns over a steady beat.
2.ML.2- Interpret the sound and symbol systems of music.
*2.1: Execute rhythm patterns using standard notation foor half and quarter notes. half and quarter rests, and beamed eighth
notes.
*2.2: Interpret three pitch songs that use traditional music notation with voice and/or by playing pitched instruments.
*2.3: Differentiate various world instruments based on how their sounds are produced into the corresponding category of
chordophone, aerophone, membranophone, idiophone and electrophone.
2.ML.3- Create music using a variety of sound and notational sources.
*3.1: Create rhythm patternsusing half and quarter notes, half and quarters rests. and beamed eighth notes in duple and triple
meter.
*3.2: Create traditional and/or non-traditional vocal of instrumental sounds to accompany readings, stories or dramatizations,
with a focus on dynamics.
*3.3: Create pentatonic phrases that are at least four beats long.
2.MR.1- Understand the interacting elements to respond to music and music performances.
*1.1: Generate appropriate movements to respond to prominent musical characteristics while listening to and/or singing
music.
*1.2: Illustrate melodic patterns, dynamics, and forms.
*1.3: Classify appropriate audience behaviors.
2.CR.1- Understand global interdisciplinary, and 21st century connections with music.
* 1.1: Exemplify music representing the cultural heritage and customs of various ethnic/regional groups across the world
and in various time periods
* 1.2: Illustrate the concepts of muisc in other disciplines (including elements in the other arts, patterns in math,
in language arts, etc.).
