Note on Numbering/Strands: ML-Musical Literacy, MR- Musical Response, CR-Contextual Relevancy
5.ML.1: Apply the elements of music and musical techniques in order to sing and play music with accuracy and expression.
1.1: Illustrate independence and accuracy while singing and/or playing instruments.
1.2: Create counter melodies or ostinati for familiar songs.
1.3: Create melodies on the treble staff which include an octave range.
1.4: Design changes to musical pieces based on the elements of music.
5.ML.2: Interpret the sond and symbol systems of music.
2.1: Execute rhythm patterns including whole, half, dotted half, quarter, and eighth notes and rests in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 meter.
2.2: Interpret visual and aural examples of major and minor scales.
2.3: Understand how sound is produced on particular instruments
5.ML.3: Create music using a variety of sound and notational sources.
3.1: Create rhythmic compositions using notatiion for whole, dotted half, half, quarter notes and rests and beamed eighth notes in duple,
triple and common time.
3.2: Create compositions using expressive markings including crescendo, decrescendo, and ritardando with and emphasis on
dynamic changes.
3.3: Create eight measure diatonic compositions using standard notation.

1.1 Interpret cues of the conductor (tempo, dynamics, entries, cut-offs, etc.)
1.2: Generate criteria for evaluating performances and compositions.
1.3: Classify audience behavior as appropriate or inappropriate to the context and style of performance.
